This is what some of our members had to say about GAMA's wonderfully conducted Onam celebrations which took place on August 30th, 2003.
1. Congratulations to each and everyone of the current GAMA committee, whose hard work and dedication shone through
in the success of the Onam celebrations. In spite of the record-breaking crowd and some performers who were late, the entire
event was coordinated smoothly from start to finish. The Sadya itself was one of the best we have ever had. The venue for the
function was well chosen and easily accessible.
Our suggestions for improvement would be:
*Hang the sponsors' banners on either side of the stage rather than on the stage background. That would be better for all those who wish to take photographs/videos of the performers.
*With our community growing, it may be wiser to start the programs an hour earlier. Even though the Onam programs ended by 9 p.m., the lines were so long that some people got to the food only by 10:30 or so.
2. Just want to say thank you to all the committee members for organizing a successful Onam function. Really appreciated for starting the program on
time; but the program could be shorter (maximum 2 hours). The sound system could have been better. The onam sadhya was really good; but by the time
the last person passed the line, it was past 10:30. That is way too late to really enjoy the meal. So, if the sadhya can be started bit early, it would be perfect.
This is just my 2 cents worth of suggestion. Overall it was a great success. Thanks to everyone!
3. A word of appreciation to all the hard work done behind the scenes that made
the onam dinner /day a great celebration.the food and service was
good--entertainment was good but a little too long and tedious--maybe a
break, or more variety, would be an improvement.all in all ,the evening was
a success.-very well organised.
4. A few Malayalee friends of mine called me to find out why I did not attend this function. They were all of
the opinion that I missed one of the best show organized by GAMA. GAMA will regain its lost glory and unity.
The record turn out is an expression of cooperation from all sections of Kerala society in GA.
5. Congratulations for such a great evening. All the programs were of good standard. Ona Sadhya was great and well arranged. The service was also wonderful.
Comments/ suggestions:
1. A better sound system would have been great. When people sang the tracks were louder than their voice.
2. Any particular individual should not perform more than one or 2 programs.
3. Need to have an Onam message (a more detailed one), or even a chief guest outside GAMA for this event.
4. A bigger auditorium would be more suitable for further occasions.
6.Excellent job! How about asking for RSVP next time so that an auditorium of suitable size can be found?
