Colorful Celebrations mark the inauguration of the activities of Greater Atlanta Malayalee

A glittering ceremony marked the inauguration of the activities of Greater Atlanta Malayalee
Association(GAMA) for the year 2005. Brian Thomas, Member, Georgia State House of Representatives,
was the chief guest, at the function held at Berkmar Highschool, Lilburn Georgia on Saturday,
May 28, 2005. Mr P I Joy, Chairman, American United Bank, was also present on the occassion, as
a special guest.
Santhosh Melekalathil, member Executive Committee, GAMA 2005, welcomed the gathering.
Mr Sunny Thaliath, President GAMA 2005, delivered the presidential address. Mr Sunny,
appreciated the support and cooperation given to GAMA by the Malayalee community of Atlanta.
He also informed that GAMA will be coming up with more new and different programs this year.
Mr Brian Thomas, in his inaugural address, referred to the various contributions by Malayalee
community to Atlanta. He also complimented the efforts of GAMA to bring together and coordinate
the Malayalees of Atlanta. Later, he formally inaugurated the function by lighting the traditional
lamp on the stage.
GAMAs grand sponsor for the year 2005, Mr P I Joy, Chairman, American United Bank, offered all support
to GAMA's initiatives in his felicitation address. GAMAs various activities over the last twenty
five years, have made creative changes in the Malayalee Community of Atlanta, Mr P I Joy remembered.
The inauguration was followed by a variety of cultural programs, which was a real feast for the
eyes and ears of the GAMA members. Dance program by Divya Unni, popular Malayalam Fim Actress was
the major attraction. The audience really enjoyed, Divya's performance, which was a combination of
both classical and popular dances.
The other attraction, was the live Orchestra performed by popular Music troup, Sarega from Newyork.
Prakash Babu, Sathish Menon and Anitha Krishnan, led the orchestra. The superhit songs presented by
them really thrilled the audience.
Various stalls for GAMA Malayalam Classes, Kerala Kshema Nidhi, SUper Bumper Raffle, were setup
along with the inaugural function. Film Star Divya Unni, selected the winners of the Raffle, by
drawing the lot at the stage. She also gave away the prizes for the raffle winners. Asianet
Georgia and Superfilms Atlanta sponsored the prizes.
The office bearers of GAMA informed that the next program of GAMA,the Family picnic will be held
at Fort Yargo Natural Park, Winder GA, on Saturday, July 9, 2005. GAMA Secretary Kala Subramaniam,
gave the vote of thanks. The function came to an end with the recital of Indian National Anthem.
